The national government’s mass housing project will need the participation of the private sector in order to implement the “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing” or 4PH program.
This was bared recently by Asec Wilfredo Mallari of Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD) who said that the country’s housing program needs to build houses for approximately 6.5 million Filipino households.
Mallari who was formerly Undersecretary of Department of Public Works and Highways said the active participation of private contractors is a big factor in the mass housing program. To address the housing backlog the DHSUD aims to build more than 6 million housing units before the end of President Marcos Jr.’s term.
In Bataan, housing facilities in Mariveles and Limay towns are now in the construction stage. Early this year, housing facilities in Orion town built through the Nationa Housing Authority were inaugurated by DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar. Last October, the DHSUD in coordination with NEDA adjusted and scrutinized the price ceiling for socialized subdivision and condominium projects to attract private investors to the Marcos administration’s ambitious mass housing program.
