To celebrate nine decades of the Department of Labor and Employment’s unwavering commitment in fostering economic growth and inclusivity, the DOLE Bataan Provincial Field Office, along with the Provincial Public Employment Service Office, organized a series of impactful events aimed at bolstering employment opportunities and supporting the livelihoods of Bataeños, held at the Bataan People’s Center last December 1.

Job fair

The event’s highlight is a job fair where 23 locators offered a diverse range of almost 3,000 job vacancies.
Job seekers had the chance to interact with employers, submit resumes, and participate in on-the-spot interviews. The event aimed to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, fostering a positive atmosphere of collaboration and opportunity.

TUPAD, GIP, and SPES payout

In addition to the job fair, DOLE organized three synchronized payouts for the beneficiaries of different DOLE programs: 1) Government Internship Program (GIP) with 526 beneficiaries; 2) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) with 708 beneficiaries; and 3) Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) with 607 beneficiaries.

Distribution of livelihood packages

In a proactive move toward community development, DOLE, through its DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program, provided livelihood packages to parents of child laborers and disadvantaged individuals to help kick-start their very own microbusiness, such as sari-sari store business, rice retailing, welding services, negokart, and several vending businesses like fish, balut and penoy, and frozen goods. This initiative is driven by the commitment to eliminate child labor and provide sustainable income generation for families.

Launching of Project Angel Tree

To take a step further on eradication of child labor, DOLE launched Project Angel Tree in the Province where sponsors, or “angels,” from several government agencies and private companies pledged donations such as food packs, school supplies, toys, vitamins, and educational assistance for the children and their families with a hope of improving their economic and social status.

Also held during the event were the oathtaking ceremony of the new set of officers of the Bataan Tripartite Industrial Peace Council, and a trade fair featuring local goods and products.

Governor Joet Garcia, DOLE Central Luzon Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio, DOLE Bataan Provincial Director Leilani Reynoso, Board Member Benjie Serrano Jr., Dr. Bong Galicia, Provincial PESO Manager Maria Eva Basalo, and municipal PESO managers graced said event.
