The once winding and uneven roads leading to Bataan’s serene coastal towns have undergone a major transformation, as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) proudly announces the completion of a P33-million upgrade. A sleek 2.1-kilometer stretch of newly asphalted road now cuts through Barangay Banawang in Bagac, offering smoother, safer journeys for both locals and tourists.
With the gleaming asphalt in place, the Gov. JJ Linao Road has become more than just a route—it’s a lifeline to the hidden gems along Bataan’s coastline. DPWH Bataan 3rd District Engineer Maribel Navarro emphasized how this project is not just about infrastructure but about unlocking the beauty and potential of the region. “This road doesn’t just connect towns; it connects opportunities, from economic growth to tourism,” she said, referring to the increased access to the scenic coastal areas.
The improvements—painstakingly executed with precision—didn’t stop at the surface. According to DPWH Bataan 3rd District OIC-Assistant Engineer Henry John Morada, the work involved everything from clearing and grubbing to laying down smooth asphalt and finishing with the application of vibrant thermoplastic paint. “These enhancements reflect our dedication to providing safe, reliable, and aesthetically pleasing roads,” Morada remarked.
Funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act, the road now serves as a crucial artery connecting Bagac and Morong to the rest of the province, promoting smoother traffic flow to Bataan’s beaches and tourist hotspots. Beyond boosting tourism, the upgraded road will provide residents with easier access to essential services, fueling the area’s economic engine.
What was once a simple maintenance project has now become a key to unlocking Bataan’s coastal charm, ensuring that both its natural beauty and thriving communities are more accessible than ever.
