GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD) recently conducted their annual reforestation program dubbed “OkTREEberfest” in the province of Bataan.
In collaboration with the local government units of Orani and Samal, GMEC and GNPD planted 2,000 seedlings at designated mangrove sites. About 1,000 seedlings were planted by volunteers that included employees at mangroves site in Tubo-Tubo, Orani. GNPD has also launched a mangrove adoption and rehabilitation project in Samal.
The activity this year marked the beginning of GNPD’s partnership with the local government unit of Samal to restore mangrove areas. Company personnel, local government representatives, and scholars from GNPD College Scholarship Program planted another 1,000 mangrove seedlings.
“OkTREEberfest” has become a tradition for GMEC and GNPD highlighting the companies’ dedication to environmental sustainability and preservation.
