Bataan Governor Joet Garcia on Thursday attended the China and Philippines Economic and Trade Promotion Conference at the Century Park Hotel in Manila where he, together with fellow Bataan officials shared the investment opportunities in Bataan.
Governor Garcia emphasized that aside from the light to heavy industrial zones in the Province, there are also opportunities in agriculture and tourism especially in the third district of Bataan represented by Congresswoman Gila Garcia.
Through the new charter of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), it can now expand beyond the town of Mariveles, and they can get the same incentives for investing in AFAB. The delegation, Garcia added, of those who want to invest in Bataan will provide many employment opportunities, which are key to a high quality of life in the Province of Bataan. Governor Garcia was joined by Congresswoman Gila Garcia, Vice Gov. Cris Garcia, Balanga City Francis Garcia, Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton, and AFAB officials.
The China-Philippines Economic and Trade Promotion Conference is a series of events that aims to strengthen the bilateral economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. The latest event marked the implementation stage of the “two countries, two parks” cooperation between China and the Philippines, which involves the establishment of demonstration industrial parks in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province and in Pampanga and Bataan in the Philippines. The conference was attended by Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian, Philippine Trade Secretary Federico Pascual, Zhangzhou Mayor Wang Jinzu, and other officials and business representatives from both sides.
The conference highlighted the achievements and prospects of the trade and investment cooperation between China and the Philippines, which have been growing steadily in recent years. China is the largest trading partner of the Philippines, and China’s investment in the Philippines has driven Philippine economic growth, created employment opportunities, and laid the foundation for the prosperity and development of the two countries.
The conference also welcomed more Chinese enterprises, especially from Zhangzhou, to invest in the Philippine industrial parks and benefit from the incentives offered by the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB).
