Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia is eyeing to organize the “Hataw Takbo Bataan Runners Club” to raise fund for children with cancer not only in Bataan but elsewhere in Central Luzon or in other parts of the country.
The governor revealed his plan during the opening ceremony for the “Hataw Takbo Hermosa Leg” last Saturday. He said there is now a growing awareness on fun run events in Bataan more particularly among the younger generation.
Gov. Joet said there will be a bigger group of runners in the province once the runners club is formed. “Nakatulong ka na sa mga batang may cancer, nakapag-exercise ka pa para sa iyong kalusugan,” the governor said.
Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton, said the program should be continued “lalo na ngayon dumarami na tayo, para humaba buhay natin, isa ito sa mga programa natin para sa kalusugan ng ating mga mamamayan.”
The winners in the 3 -kilometer, 5k, 10k, and 16k race received medals and certificates from the “Hataw” organizer and the Provincial Government of Bataan. The program was inspired by the provincial government’s campaign against smoking and vaping, and sale of tobacco products.I
