The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) introduced two new mobile applications, the e-Gov and e-LGU “super apps,” on September 3 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center. These apps aim to streamline government services and reduce transaction times for stakeholders. Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman Eduardo Jose L. Aliño praised the initiative, highlighting its potential to cut costs, reduce queues, and improve productivity. The apps also promise to track transactions, helping combat corruption and red tape.
DICT Region 3 Director Antonio Edward Padre spearheaded the launch, with Government Digital Transformation Bureau Director June Vincent Manuel Gaudan underscoring the app’s inclusivity. By centralizing local and national services in one platform, the e-Gov app ensures that no one is left behind in the country’s digital transformation.
Gaudan noted that foreign companies investing in Subic Freeport will benefit from streamlined processes, aligning with Executive Order 18, which promotes ease of doing business.
The app’s “Green Lanes” feature, designed to facilitate strategic investments, was also highlighted as part of the government’s response to enhance service delivery. By digitizing transactions at Subic Freeport, it aims to create a more efficient environment for businesses operating in the zone. SBMA officials stressed the importance of integrating multi-sectoral government services to improve various processes like business permits and civil registry.
Several government leaders, including representatives from the Zambales Governor’s Office, Olongapo City, and various national agencies, attended the event to express their support for the project. They emphasized the potential of the super apps to improve service accessibility and transparency nationwide.
The e-Gov and e-LGU systems form part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration’s broader digital transformation agenda. The initiative, led by the DICT in partnership with the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), aims to make government services more efficient, faster, and transparent across the country.
