Through the initiative of Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia and Vice Mayor Vianca Venzon-Gozon, Greater Bani Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Barangay Cataning has been chosen beneficiary of the Rice Business Innovation System (RiceBIS) Community Program of Department of Agriculture-PhilRice.

RiceBIS aims to create pilot-test development models for community transformation that is participatory, market-driven, and supported by a scientific production base to improve the competitiveness of rice-based farming communities.

The program will be done through the establishment of rice hubs that will serve as farmers’ support system in carrying out rice-based enterprises. The cooperative will formulate a business plan to be funded through the program. Members of Greater Bani MPC thanked Garcia and Venzon-Gozon for linking them to the program.
