The Government of Korea donates a total of US$500,000.00 to the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) for the Master Plan for Marine Plastic Waste Management under the Consulting Official Development Assistance (ODA) project.
Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III and Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI) Division of Environmental Industry Director General Ju Hyun Cho signed the Implementation Agreement during the kick-off meeting yesterday, April 16, 2024, at The Bunker.
Said project aims to create a master plan to improve the environmental management in the Province of Bataan to address marine plastics issues and challenges. Furthermore, the aforementioned project is expected to generate a pre-feasibility study and Project Concept Papers (PCPs) for infrastructure projects and the implementation of protocols in Bataan and to other areas in the country to be identified with similar issues.
Gov. Joet Garcia thanked the Government of Korea and KEITI for their donation and for choosing Bataan as their beneficiary and looks forward to learning more about Korea’s best practices on marine plastic management.
Also present in the said event were Vice Gov. Cris Garcia, LMP President Tonypep Raymundo, representatives from PG-ENRO led by OIC-PG-ENRO Raphael C. de Leon, EnP, Director Al O. Orolfo, Ph.D., PENRO Bataan Officer Raul Mamac, and representatives from Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Service (FASPS), Korea Ministry of Environment, Chonnam National University, and Eco Creation.
