The local government unit (LGU) of Mariveles through its Municipal Disaster for Risk Reduction Management Office conducted a one-day disaster preparedness orientation for the youths in the municipality.

Municipal Administrator Tito Catipon said Mayor AJ Concepcion initiated the activity for disaster preparedness and resiliency with the support of the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Lito Rubia. “Dapat mayroong kayong alam sa kung anong dapat gawin kung may darating na disaster”, Councilor Susan Madla-Murillo who graced the event told the young participants. “Kasama kayo ng inyong pamilya, dapat may kaalaman kayo sa pagtugon kung sakaling dumating ang disaster”, she said. The councilor said youths should know the high-risk areas in their surroundings.

The Municipal Council for Protection of Children supported the conduct of the orientation pointing out that children should be at the center of efforts in times of calamity and disaster. The orientation was held at Romalaine Restaurant, Brgy. Alas-asin on Saturday.
