Misyong Pangkalusugan sa Samal

Philippine Standard Time:

Misyong Pangkalusugan sa Samal

All roads led to the John Wesley Methodist Center in Brgy. Gugo, Samal last Sunday, March 23 as more than a thousand residents from all over the said town took part in a medical mission, a collaborative effort among the local government unit, government agencies, nongovernment organizations and private corporations.

Based on data gathered, the following are some of the services provided for free: medical – 400; dental -255; optical – reading glasses – 145; circumcision – 180. The first 1,000 to arrive and register at the venue were also given 5 kilos of rice while free meals were served to everyone present. A bloodletting activity was also held where 30 individuals participated.

The beneficiaries, especially those from the upland areas of Palili, Hacienda, Imelda, Gugo, Adamson are one in saying that they are doubly grateful because Mayor Acuzar brought these services closer to them.

Mayor Alex Acuzar, in his short but heartfelt message expressed his joy and gratitude to all who came and participated that made the laudable event happen, which coincided with his birthday. He said that he has been organizing medical missions for ten years now, as a way of giving back to the less privileged, for all the blessings he and his family have been receiving.

However, he used to do this in different depressed areas of the country, specifically in Visayas and Mindanao but three years ago, he decided to always hold this mission in his very own hometown of Samal. Mr. Ferdinand Mercado, Ms. Marlene Ong, Ms. Kristine Ong, and Mr. Kelvin Ong, representatives of the major sponsor of the said activity, Hi Tech Global Cement Corporation, one of the locators at the Samal Economic Zone graced the event.

The whole hearted support and expertise rendered by the selfless, nameless men and women from the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center, Samal Municipal Health Office as well as the International Association of Lions Clubs District 301-A3 contributed to the success of the activity.

Pusong Pinoy Partylist Representative Jernie Jett Nisay graced the event as well as members of the Samal Sangguniang Bayan.
