Housewives and other market-goers from Pilar and nearby towns would now feel safe, confident, are in good place and may go on shopping for as long as they want — unharmed and free from being victimized by pickpockets.
Pilar Mayor Charlie Pizarro and representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) last June 17 switched-on the 48 closed-circuit tv cameras in different strategic points of the Modern Palengke located just at the back of Pilar Municipal Hall.
“We want to protect our market-goers as well as our stall owners in the public market. This will enhance security of customers and employees in our Modern Palengke,” said the mayor in his FB page.
The multi-million peso Modern Palengke was inaugurated last April 24, and witnessed by local officials led by Pizarro, Vice Mayor Ces Garcia, Sangguniang Bayan members, Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia, Vice Gov. Cris Garcia and Pusong Pinoy Partylist Rep. Jett Nisay.
The Modern Palengke built under the administration of Mayor Pizarro is the only modern public market in the province.
