The municipal government of Orani, has been strictly imposing waste segregation with barangay officials as enforcers.
Mayor Efren Pascual, Jr. asked on Monday to follow instructions on segregation of garbage or those would not be collected at all. The mayor said he issued instructions to punong barangays to strictly enforce the “no segregation, no collection of garbage” policy.
Of the 18,248 households in Orani, 60 percent or 10,829 are segregating their garbage. “Hindi nyo naman puwedeng iasa sa akin ang basura. Obligasyon nyo yan at ng barangay officials na i-segregate ang inyong basura,” said the mayor when he spoke before a group of town residents who received “Basta Taga-Orani” cards from the municipal government that they would use in securing financial assistance through the Department of Social Welfare and Development in lieu of cold cash.
Last Monday, the office of Mayor Pascual released more than 4,000 BTO cards through the DSWD. Last year, the DSWD released a total of P14 million assistance to Orani residents. Pascual said the municipal government in coordination with the provincial government is now starting to implement the Universal Health Care Law through the primary care health services. “Ito yung mga bagay na simple ngunit puwedeng bigyan ng lunas, importante lang na kayo ay pumailalim sa Philhealth Konsulta program,” the mayor pointed out.
