Department of Tourism (DoT) Undersecretary Myra Paz Abubakar led the release of 80 sea turtles along the shoreline near the Pawikan Conservation Center during the Pawikan Festival held on December 7, 2024, in the Municipality of Morong.
The main entrance of the Pawikan Center was also formally opened, along with the unveiling of the Art Installation and Life Cycle exhibit, which aims to educate the community about the status of sea turtles in the country and what can be done to help in their conservation.
In addition, the event featured the Pawikan Hat Making Contest, Sand Sculpture Competition, a trade fair, and the launch of the book “Nasaan Ka Pawi?” by Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) – Dinalupihan Campus.
Also present were Vice Governor Cris Garcia, Bataan 3rd District Congresswoman Gila Garcia, Pusong Pinoy Partylist Representative Jett Nisay, Bataan Peninsula Tourism Council Foundation Inc. (BPTCFI) Chairperson Isabel Garcia, BPTCFI Adviser Vicky Garcia, Board Member Popoy Del Rosario, Mayor Cynthia Estanislao, Vice Mayor Leila Muñoz, DoT III Regional Director Richard Daenos, Provincial Administrator Alice Pizarro, Provincial Tourism OIC Danica Tigas-Rodriguez and BPSU President Ruby Matibag.
Said event served as a joyful and vibrant way to unite the people of Bataan and visitors for a common goal: to protect our environment for future generations.
