In observance of Philippine Arbor Day and World Environment Month, Petron Corporation spearheaded a large-scale tree planting activity on June 25, 2025, in its adopted site in Barangay Duale, Limay. The event aimed to reinforce the company’s commitment to environmental protection and reforestation under its flagship program, “Puno ng Buhay.”
Nearly 1,700 seedlings of narra, guyabano, calamansi, and cashew were planted across a two-hectare area. Around 400 volunteers participated in the activity, representing various organizations, including the Petron Refinery, Petron Limay Terminal, SL-Panasia, SMC Global Power, local government units of Limay, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Philippine Coast Guard, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Philippine Army, barangays Alangan and Duale, and people’s organizations such as SAMASAKA, alongside other NGOs.
Petron facilities in other parts of the country simultaneously held similar tree-planting activities with their respective LGUs, local partners, and employee volunteers. These initiatives are part of the “Puno ng Buhay” program, which has been running since 2000 and has resulted in the planting of more than one million trees and mangroves nationwide.
Employees of Petron also joined San Miguel Corporation’s (SMC) tree planting activity at Mt. Purro Nature Reserve in Antipolo, where they teamed up with volunteers from other SMC subsidiaries, reflecting the conglomerate’s unified environmental mission.
Petron, the country’s largest oil refining and marketing company, continues to implement various environmental conservation and protection programs, from reforestation and biodiversity efforts to cleaner fuel innovations. These initiatives form part of its broader sustainability agenda and support for a greener, more climate-resilient Philippines.
