Power firms continue to plant trees

Planting trees has become a continuing task for the twin power firms in Bataan– the GNMariveles Energy Co. and GNPower Dinginin as it launched its “Oktreeberfest 2023 For a Better Future” on October 18.

With the theme “Aksyon Para sa Kalikasan,” the project involved 50 employees of GMEC and GNPD who volunteered in the second year of the annual event. Last year, they planted trees at the “I Love Mariveles” standee at the Zigzag Road in Barangay Alas-asin. Raymund Tamayo, corporate communication officer of the said power firms, said volunteers planted 400 samplings of narra tree in Mt. Tarak also in Barangay Alas-asin, Mariveles. The site has become popular among mountain climbers from other provinces.

The GMEC adopted 109 hectares of forest land in Mt. Tarak, while GNPD takes care of 130 hectares of woodland in the same mountain. Clarence Luna, GMEC-GNPD total rewards and system analytics manager, graced the event and encouraged the participants to continue to volunteer in environment initiatives like tree planting. “Let’s plant a tree with pride and dignity,” Luna said.I
