“This project likewise proves that in order to achieve progress, we need to uphold the ideas of synergy, and collaboration with the whole of government approach,” Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said in his visit to Bagac, Bataan for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Philippine Sports Training Center (PSTC) June 17.
The Provincial Government of Bataan donated 250,000 square meters of land to the Philippine Sports Commission for the establishment of PSTC.
Governor Abet Garcia, in his statement, thanked the President for his trust and support to the province of Bataan especially for his Build, Build, Build program that paved the way for the construction of the much-awaited Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge.
“Dito sa maraming programa at proyekto na talagang naramdaman ng aming bayan, maraming maraming salamat po, mayor,” Gov. Garcia said.
The soon-to-rise PSTC will cater to Olympic and non-olympic sports with complete amenities from gymnasiums, fields, and ovals for different sports to hone the skills of local athletes.
Said project was made possible through Republic Act 11214 known as the Philippine Sports Training Center Act which allocates Php 3.5 billion for its construction aiming to achieve excellence in international sports competitions, to ensure success in the country’s quest to achieve competitiveness in the Olympic Games and to promote international amity among nations.
