The Municipal Government of Samal, is implementing local ordinances to maintain orderliness and have a peaceful, “healthy” community that will in a way help propel the town to progress. Mayor Alexander Acuzar urged barangay officials to encourage residents to observe ordinances passed by the Sangguniang Bayan.
In Barangay San Juan, for instance, in its FB page called on residents to be aware of ordinances on solid waste management, curfew hours for the minors, responsible pet ownership, anti-smoking, road clearing, and anti-liquor drinking.
In what seems to be a drastic move, Mayor Acuzar recently ordered the closure of a poultry farm in Brgy. Ibaba, one of the six poultry farms in Samal for unabated swarm of flies.
As much as possible the mayor would not want to order a closure of the farms because they provide livelihood to local residents. “But our priority here is the health concern of our constituents who have been complaining against the pestering flies that affect their lives,” Acuzar explained.
