Some 1,020 college students in Samal town, in Bataan province get P2,500 allowance from the municipal government’s scholarship program initiated by Mayor Alexander Acuzar.
Samal Councilor Erval Flores, chair of committees on education and health, said some 138 students who were able to comply with basic requirements including a grade of 1.5 had received additional incentives.
Flores said it has been the policy of Mayor Acuzar to help Samal youths get better education so they can pursue better future by having excelled in their chosen career.
Samal is known for producing youths who landed in good-paying jobs here and abroad.
