SBMA Chairman graces opening of MV Doulos Hope in Subic

SBMA Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño recently attended the opening of the MV Doulos Hope at the Riviera Wharf in Subic Bay Freeport. The event was also graced by Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr., Zambales Board Member Jun Rundstedt Ebdane, MV Doulos Hope Captain Tom Dyer, and Director Nathan Schmutz.

Aliño expressed his excitement about the ship’s arrival, emphasizing its role in spreading knowledge, community engagement, and spiritual enhancement. The MV Doulos Hope, operated by the faith-based organization Gute Bücher für Alle (Good Books for All), is a floating library open to the public until March 3, after which it will sail to San Fernando, La Union.

Ebdane highlighted the value of books as gifts that uplift the spirit, encouraging everyone to explore the wide range of books available on the ship at affordable prices. Captain Dyer expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and cooperation of officials, which helped promote the MV Doulos Hope in the local community.

The MV Doulos Hope, originally a cruise ship, was repurposed into a floating library in late 2022. Following its refit, the ship will be based in a Southeast Asian port from 2023 to complement its sister ship, the MV Logos Hope.
