DOST Bataan Director Catalina Cruz thanked Sen. Joel Villanueva for providing fund for DOST Expanded Implementation of Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology program (eCEST) that benefited many Bataan communities.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo kay Sen. Joel Villanueva sa pagbibibigay ng karagdagang pondo sa DOST eCEST. Maraming mga komunidad sa ating lalawigan ang nakinabang sa programang ito”, she said.

The remote villages in Bataan that benefitted were Brgy. Quinawan, Bagac; Brgy. Biaan Mariveles; Brgy. Almacen, Hermosa; and Sitio Pulo, Brgy. Kabalutan, Orani.

They were given each unsinkable boats, among other assistance.

DOST Bataan Science Research Specialist 2 Jerwin Vianzon said eCEST is a package of science and technology interventions which aims to build progressive, empowered and resilient rural communities adding the program is targeting to empower the poorest and most depressed communities in the country.

He said the move is part of the agency’s efforts to strengthen the disaster rescue and relief capabilities of vulnerable communities in the province.
