Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III awarded a plaque of recognition and a PHP60,000 check to EC Films for winning 1st place in the Pamilyang Bataeño Short Film Contest during the awarding ceremony held on November 22 at Vista Cinemas, Balanga City.
Centered on the theme “Kwento ng Katatagan, Pag-asa, at Inspirasyon” (Stories of Resilience, Hope, and Inspiration), the contest aimed to showcase real stories of Bataeños that inspire and uplift communities.
The winning entry, “Ahon”, portrayed the struggles and resilience of a fisherman in Limay amidst the recent oil spill, delivering a heartfelt depiction of hope and determination. Director Emir Canlas expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Government of Bataan for creating a platform that celebrates and uplifts local creatives, empowering them to tell inspiring stories and showcase their talents.
Meanwhile, A Lens Cinematics and Photography’s “Mapayapa”, that highlighted the daily struggles and discrimination of a blind boy, won 2nd place and received a plaque along with PHP 40,000. The third spot and People’s Choice Award went to Vantage Production’s “Tira-tira”, a moving story of a father striving to provide for his son despite a meager income, earned them a plaque and PHP 40,000.
Governor Garcia commended all participants, emphasizing that indeed, the films showcased the creativity, resilience, and inspiring stories of Bataeños. He noted that the contest reflected the province’s rich talent and determination to overcome challenges while fostering hope and unity within the community.
