The Provincial Government of Bataan has enacted the SK Excused Absence Ordinance, a policy designed to support the leadership roles of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials while pursuing their education. Authored and sponsored by Provincial Board Member Jomar Gaza and approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, led by Vice Governor Cris Garcia, this ordinance ensures that SK officials are not academically penalized for fulfilling their duties in the community.

Under this Ordinance, all public and private schools in Bataan are required to recognize the absence of SK officials as excused, as long as it is due to official SK functions such as community programs, youth development projects, government-sponsored trainings, or similar public service engagements. To qualify, students must present an official Certificate of Attendance confirming their participation in such activities.

However, SK officials are also reminded of their academic responsibilities. If their absence falls on a scheduled exam, presentation, or project deadline, they must inform their teachers in advance and complete any missed requirements within one week of their return.

The Bataan Youth Development Office is tasked with overseeing the implementation of this Ordinance and ensuring coordination between educational institutions and SK councils.

This measure aims to promote responsible youth leadership by allowing SK officials to serve their communities without compromising their academic progress.
