What is important in a housing project under the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD) program is the land where to build housing units.
This was pointed out by Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Manuel N. Beltran during a brief interview in his office. Beltran lauds President Bongbong Marcos’ housing program through the DHSUD headed by Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar. The DHSUD has been tapped be the President to build 6 million housing units throughout the country until the end of his term which means that 1 million housing units must be put up every year for six years.
DHSUD Undersecretary Wilfredo Mallari, former DPWH undersecretary during the term of DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that the housing agency has to tap private contractors who are willing to work hand-in-hand with government to build housing units.
Beltran who is an engineer and an experienced public works contractor himself before entering politics, said “Mas maganda kung ang mga contractor na gagawa ng housing units ay mayroon tie-up sa banko.” He said in Bataan alone about 5,000 housing units are that easy to undertake. “Kung 10,000 baka mahirapan,” the board member from Balanga added.
