A team of elementary students from the Special Education for the Gifted (SPED-G) Kalayaan School in Subic Freeport placed third in the recent 23rd Philippine Robotics Olympiad. The competition took place at Ayala Malls Trinoma in Quezon City.
The Grade VI students—Anne Margarette Inton, Dru Triguero, and Zyrene Tantay—competed in the Future Innovators Category at the elementary level. They are part of the Aerosense Team, which was guided by coaches Ma Alon Elago, John Lester Perez, and Principal Abdon Bayle. The team’s entry, named “Aerosense,” is an ESP32 drone-based system designed for real-time monitoring of air quality, humidity, and temperature. The students developed Aerosense to help address environmental challenges like air pollution and climate change.
Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño congratulated the team during a courtesy call, expressing pride in their achievement. He also recognized SBMA Director Anne Lorraine Adorable Inton, the mother of team member Anne Margarette Inton, for raising a talented and bright child. Anne Margarette’s dad is Hermosa Mayor Antonio Joseph “Jopet” Rivera Inton.
