When a big fire razed houses in Sitio Depensa, Brgy. Capunitan, Orion in 2019, the Provincial Government of Bataan, led by then-Governor Albert S. Garcia, envisioned a community where the fire victims would have safe and decent homes.
On February 2, 2023, 216 housing units at the 1Bataan Village Orion Phase 1 were officially blessed and turned over to the respective beneficiaries. Yesterday, May 16, 2024, another vision became a reality as the covered court and community market were blessed and turned over in the said community. In line with this, Congressman Abet Garcia stated that these are just some of the many facilities that the Provincial Government of Bataan has envisioned to create a thriving community for the people of Orion, especially the Capunitan fire victims. Cong. Abet added that they plan to make 1Bataan Village Orion a model community for all the 1Bataan Villages in the province. He thanked the beneficiaries’ cooperation and efforts in realizing their vision.
Moreover, Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III shared that they plan to establish a Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) Expansion within the village to create more job opportunities and sources of income. Governor Joet also said that the Provincial Government of Bataan has been granted an additional PHP 100 million fund from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to build a fisherman’s wharf for the residents of 1Bataan Village Orion to park their fishing boats.
Also present at the event were Congressman Jett Nisay, Vice Governor Cris Garcia, Mayor Tonypep Raymundo, DHSUD Region 3 Division Chief Engineer Jonathan Francisco, Uplift President Engineer Marvin Encabo, and representatives of the Homeowners’ Association (HOA).
