In a meeting held yesterday in Mariveles, Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, expressed her full support for the proposed turnover of Mariveles District Hospital (MDH) to the DOH.

She suggested that there should be a transition period for the DOH to effectively assume it’s operations. The proposal for the turnover was initiated by 2nd District Representative Abet S. Garcia. Cong, Gila, 3rd District Representative, underscored the importance of the turnover to serve the increasing the demand for medical services in FAB and Mariveles as well as its neighboring barangays, not to mention when the Bataan Cavite Interlink Bridge is completed.

Vergeire further suggested for the establishment of an occupational health facility within the hospital. DOH and PGB will closely coordinate for the finalization of the legal documents for the turnover.

AFAB is preparing the legal documents for the usufruct of the lot and donation of MDH structure. Cong Abet Garcia welcomes the support of DOH and AFAB and fully agrees with the plan of action to be taken to facilitate the completion of the initiative.
