The development of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in Bataan took a significant leap this year, with both Vista Mall Bataan and SM City Bataan inaugurating EV charging stations to support green mobility in the province.
On Monday, Governor Joet Garcia, together with Bataan 2nd District Representative Abet Garcia, former Senate President Manny Villar and Rep. Camille Villar, inaugurated the EV Charging Station at Vista Mall Bataan. This facility includes a 40kW fast charger and a Level 2 charger, both available for free use, underscoring Bataan’s commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. Governor Garcia tied this milestone to the national zero-tariff policy on EV imports under Executive Order 12 (2023), which has made EVs more affordable in the country.
Earlier, SM City Bataan launched its own EV charging station, part of the SM Supermalls’ nationwide sustainability campaign. The station features the Wallbox Pulsar Plus AC charger, with a capacity of up to 7.4kW, and offers free charging daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Located near the mall’s Entrance 1 parking, the service supports various EV brands like Audi, BMW, and Hyundai, among others. This initiative aligns with the SM Green Movement, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and air pollution.
Both charging stations symbolize a strong push towards sustainable transport solutions, reinforcing Bataan’s position as a leader in green innovation in the Philippines.
