A public consultation and disclosure meeting for the proposed 22.875-megawatt (MWp) solar power project by Solana Solar was held on July 16, 2025, in Barangay Balsik. The event aimed to inform the local community about the scope, purpose, and potential environmental and social impacts of the project through the presentation of its Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), and Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP).
Representatives from the Hermosa Municipal Government attended the forum, including Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Jesus De Luna and Municipal Legal Officer Atty. Bernard Odron, on behalf of Mayor Anne Inton. Balsik Punong Barangay Amado Roncal led the local stakeholders in participating actively during the open forum, where residents were encouraged to raise questions, express concerns, or offer suggestions.
Solana Solar, the proponent of the renewable energy facility, is part of Solar Pacific Energy Corporation (SPEC), a company under the MGen Renewable Energy, Inc. (MGreen) portfolio of Meralco PowerGen Corporation. The project supports the national government’s renewable energy goals under the “Bagong Pilipinas” initiative and is expected to enhance energy supply reliability in Central Luzon while creating green jobs and promoting environmental sustainability in Bataan.
