A new road interchange that will directly link the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) to the municipality of Hermosa is set to rise, following the initiative of Hermosa Mayor Antonio Joseph “Jopet” Inton.
The project aims to enhance accessibility and support the rapid growth of logistics, manufacturing, and industrial operations in southern Bataan, positioning the municipality as a major economic hub in Central Luzon.
The proposed interchange is part of the larger plan to connect emerging economic zones in Bataan to key development areas such as the Clark Freeport Zone, New Clark City, and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
Mayor Jopet Inton recently led a joint site inspection and planning meeting together with Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang, Bataan First District Congressman-elect Antonino Roman III, NLEX AVP Vik Apuzen, NLEX Head for Government Relations Allan Gregorio, and DPWH Region 3 Chief of Planning and Design Arthur Santos. Also present was BCDA VP for Strategic Projects Randy S. Viacrusis.
According to Mayor Inton, the interchange will significantly improve travel time, reduce transportation costs, and unlock investment opportunities in Hermosa and surrounding areas. It will also decongest existing roads and serve as a vital entry point for goods and services coming in and out of Bataan. With multiple industrial estates already operating in Hermosa, such as the Hermosa Ecozone Industrial Park, the new access road is expected to attract more locators and businesses.
Moreover, the project will provide direct access to the BCDA-administered Bataan Technology Park in Morong, which is being developed as the future headquarters of the Philippine Marine Corps.
The new infrastructure reflects a coordinated effort among local and national agencies to build smarter, more connected cities—aligned with the “Build Better More” program of the national government.
