Samal Mayor Alex Acuzar thanked Sen. Imee Marcos for the cash aid distributed to Samal beneficiaries on Sunday.

One thousand Samalenos each received P3,000 financial assistance initiated by the Senator through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). “Maraming salamat kay Sen. Imee Marcos na laging tumutulong sa ating mga kababayan dito sa Samal”, said the Mayor.

Department of Agriculture Asec. Kristine Evangelista represented Marcos in the AICS payout who was not able to come due to bad weather. “Pasensya na kayo gustong-gusto kayong makasama ni Sen. Imee Marcos kaya lang pinayuhan siya na delikadong mag-chopper dahil sa sama ng panahon”, she said. “Alam nyo mahal na mahal kayo ni Sen. Imee Marcos at bilin nya ianunsyo ko sa inyo na bibigyan ang Samal ng P5 million enhanced Kadiwa grant sa ilalim ng Department of Agriculture”, she announced to the crowd.

Later, Evangelista assisted by Acuzar and Vice Mayor Ronnie Ortiguerra distributed Nutribuns to Samal children. Distribution of Nutribuns to Filipino children is a revived program of the Senator from her late father, former President Ferdinand Marcos. Other members of Samal Sangguniang Bayan also attended the program.
