25 Bataan firms commit compliance with EPR law

Twenty-five business and industrial companies most of them operating at the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) have pledged to comply with the principle being institutionalized by the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) on plastic packaging waste.

Based on an article published Monday, being World Environment Day, in the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the pledge of commitment was made during the recent launch of Project Transform of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources at the Bataan People’s Center in Balanga City.

It was graced by no other than Environment Sec. Antonia Yulo Loyzaga and Bataan officials led by Gov. Joet Garcia. The companies represent 93 percent of prospective large businesses that are covered by EPR Law in Bataan.

By signing the pledge, the companies committed to register their respective EPR programs and submit the necessary documentary requirements with the DENR-led National Solid Waste Management Commission in compliance with Republic Act No. 11898, or the EPR Law.
