The Provincial Government of Bataan, Samal LGU, and Barangay San Antonio in Bagac town were recipients of environmental awards from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 3.

The award was given to Bataan province for its outstanding sustainability efforts in ecological solid waste management; Samal town for excellence in the operation of materials recovery facility (MRF); and Bgy. San Antonio for its outstanding Barangay MRF.

The DENR bestowed the much coveted awards during the agency’s environmental summit held last June 26 in Clark, Pampanga. Samal town Mayor Alexander Acuzar personally received the award. DENR had been actively monitoring the operations of various MRFs and other environment concerns in the province.
