In a significant leap forward for disaster preparedness, Bataan’s Provincial Government recently unveiled a state-of-the-art Mobile Command and Control Center Vehicle (MOCCOV), donated by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) under its Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) program. The turnover ceremony and blessing of the new unit took place on November 12, a proud milestone for provincial leaders and residents.
The MOCCOV, equipped with advanced tools and technology, is designed to bolster emergency response across Bataan during calamities and accidents. It features a weather monitoring station, a folding rescue boat, a high-capacity radio communication system, and an array of medical and rescue equipment.
A fully equipped conference room allows it to operate as a mobile command center, ensuring coordination and streamlined decision-making during emergency operations. One of the standout features is the solar panel system, which guarantees a reliable power source even in prolonged operations, a vital feature for sustained response in remote or power-deficient areas.
Governor Joet Garcia expressed deep gratitude to DOST Regional Director Dr. Julius Caesar Sicat, DOST Provincial Director Ms. Catalina Cruz, DILG Provincial Director Ms. Belina Herman, and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Head Mr. Arvin Catipon for their steadfast support.
“This Mobile Command Center will be a great asset in ensuring we are better prepared and more capable of rapid response when disasters strike,” he said. The new MOCCOV will undoubtedly enhance Bataan’s resilience and efficiency in handling emergencies, reflecting a commitment to the safety and well-being of all its residents.
