“This [Orani Fish Landing and Trading Facility] will be a catalyst for development, not only for the town of Orani but also for the province of Bataan,” PRDP RPCO3 Project Director Dr. Arthur D. Dayrit said during its groundbreaking ceremony in Brgy. Pantalan Bago today, April 20.
The ceremony was graced by no less than Senator Cynthia Villar, who underscored that the groundbreaking of the old fishport was also graced by her husband, former Sen. Manny Villar.
“It was February 21st, kasama ang buong team ng Provincial Planning and Development Office, noong napagtulungan naming ipagtanggol para ang bagay na ating papasinayaan ngayon,” Orani Mayor Bondjong Pascual mentioned in his speech.
The facility was approved by the Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB) and is funded by the World Bank. PRDP PSO North Luzon Cluster Deputy Project Director Ms. Elma S. Mananes revealed that this project will undergo construction for 422 days.
In his message, Bataan Governor Joet Garcia said, “Hindi po siguro malayong mangarap na dahil sa proyekto natin ngayon ay makikilala ang Orani kagaya ng Tsukiji, ang largest wholesale fish market in the world.”
“You have gone a long way. Sana makatulong din kaming mapaganda ang lugar na ito para maging tourist attraction,” Senator Cynthia Villar added.
Vice Governor Ma. Cristina M. Garcia, 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman, MFARMC President Mr. Avelino Capuli, Board Members, Municipal Councilors, and Provincial and Municipal Department Heads attended this momentous occasion.
