The Department of Agriculture (DA), in partnership with the Local Government of Mariveles under the leadership of Mayor AJ Concepcion, launched a vegetable seed distribution program aimed at supporting community gardens and encouraging healthier lifestyles among residents.
The initiative, which provides free vegetable seeds to local households and farmers, is part of Mariveles’ broader campaign to strengthen food security, promote backyard gardening, and ensure access to nutritious food.
Mayor Concepcion emphasized that this is in line with the town’s “Mariveles Muna, Mariveles Una” agenda, which prioritizes community welfare and sustainable agriculture development.
This seed distribution complements several ongoing agri-based programs of the LGU, including the establishment of barangay-level urban gardens, farmer support trainings, and livelihood assistance for small-scale growers.
Through these efforts, the local government aims to build a stronger, self-sustaining agricultural sector while addressing both nutrition and economic needs in the municipality.
