Disaster preparedness seminar on-going in Abucay

After the El Nino phenomenon, comes the La Nina– the onset of incessant rains resulting to flash floods and God forbids, typhoons that may wreak havoc to the environment that may cost lives and limbs.

This is the very reason why different municipal disaster risk reduction and management councils (MDRRMC), LGU employees, representatives of civil society organizations, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the PNP and religious groups gathered at Villa Amanda Resort and Restaurant in Abucay for a five-day seminar on Incident Command System (ICS) from May 20-24.

The objectives of the seminar are: To strengthen the ability in planning and implementation of incident command system in time of calamities and other emergency cases; and to establish organized and systematic effort in responding to accidents through effective utilization of resources. Simulation exercises will be held for the participants to fully understand preparedness program.

Abucay Mayor Robin Tagle said he expects that after the five-day seminar participants shall have deeper understanding and expertise in undertaking integrated plans in disaster response and management. “This seminar is important since our country is frequented by typhoons and natural calamities,” the mayor said.
