The less than a kilometer flyover in the Alauli Junction along the Roman Highway in Pilar town, was opened to traffic on Saturday morning amid complaints from motorists that the area has become a bottle neck and accident prone.

Bataan Second District Rep. Albert Garcia said aside from trying to minimize the number of road accidents in the area, the two-lane flyover is in preparation for the completion of Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge. Garcia added, “We are after safety and efficiency for our motorists and tourists who come in drove during summer time to satisfy their cravings for beautiful beaches and resorts in Bagac and Morong towns.”

The Alauli Junction is known as an accident prone area in Bataan. Built at a cost of P150 million by local funds and superstructure materials supplied by French assistance, the first flyover in Bataan began construction on January 4, 2022. More flyovers will be put up on Roman Highway intersections in the future. The project will serve incoming and outgoing traffic to and from the heart of historic Pilar town to neighboring towns and urban centers and lessening the travel time and costs both of motorists and public in general.

Garcia asked landowners to be affected by the road projects in the province to cooperate with the government by doing away with costly court litigations that delay the construction. He said more flyovers are scheduled for construction in Bataan. “Sana huwag na tayo dumaan sa mahabang proseso sa isyu ng right of way kung kailangan ng gobyerno ang lupa para sa road widening project,” said Garcia.
