The twin coal-fired power plants operating in Bataan adopted 239 hectares of forest land in Mariveles for reforestation. GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co (GMEC) adopted 109 hectares of forest land and GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD) 130 hectares in Mt. Tarak, Mariveles.
The two power plants, with Mariveles Municipal Environment and Natural Resources recently held their annual tree planting activity dubbed this year “Oktreeberfest” in their adopted forest.
Fifty employees volunteered and planted more than 400 narra saplings. “We always support causes like this because it does not only help the environment but nurture the community as well”, said GMEC-GNPD Total Rewards and System Analytics Manager Clarence Luna who joined the planting activity. GNPD Environment Officer Denmark Palma said they seriously advocate protecting and creating a greener environment as he commended the volunteers.
