Mayor Tagle thanks GGGI for EV study

Abucay Mayor Robin C. Tagle profusedly expressed gratitude to GGGI Philippines Country Representative Marcel Silvius for the support and study that can make electric vehicles effective in the province and in Abucay.

For his reaction, Mr. Silvius personally congratulated Gov. Joet Garcia and other provincial officials for their pioneering efforts in transitioning the province to sustainable transportation modernization program. Likewise, the electric vehicle charging station was launched at the back of Abucay municipal building. Tagle said, “This is the first of its kind in the country.” He proudly said that the municipal government now largely relies on solar power. “And it’s economical on our part, we use our solar power only from Mondays to Fridays,” the mayor said.

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) of which Silvius is a key official supported Bataan by conducting a prefeasibility study on the integration of electric vehicles into the province’s public transport routes which helped develop green mobility program.

A memorandum of agreement was forged between the provincial government and GET Philippines, the electric vehicle company that will offer free electric shuttle service to local commuters.

The project is keeping in tune well enough with the implementation of EVIDA Law or RA 11697, the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act. Passed on April 15, 2022, the law comes with a new movement toward greener mobility.
