To develop the full potentials of the young generation, Morong has established the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC). The Sangguniang Bayan of Morong, Bataan headed by Vice Mayor Leila Linao-Munoz passed Municipal Ordinance No. 269 creating the LYDC. Mayor Cythia Linao-Estanislao approved the ordinance.
The ordinance was sponsored by Morong SK Federation President and ex-officio Councilor Carl Francis Cariaso. “The municipality of Morong acknowledges the vital role of nation-building and the creation of the Local Youth Development Council will be the enabling mechanism for meaningful youth participation through mutual coordination of the Local Youth Development Council and the Sangguniang Kabataan”, stated in the ordinance. “The Local Youth Development Council will be responsible for the formulation of policies and implementation of youth development programs, projects, and activities”, according to the ordinance.
The LYDC functions include to serve as the core of the advocacy on youth participation and nation-building and youth empowerment; to formulate policies and component programs in coordination with the various government agencies handling youth- related programs, projects, and activities; to develop and provide support for the development and coordination of youth projects and designed strategies to gain support and participation of the youth; and to recommend youth programs and projects proposals to appropriate government agencies and and non-government organization. The LYDC will be headed by SK Federation president. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan recently approved the ordinance.
