NGCP opens transmission capacity to new power generators

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has announced that it is ready to accommodate more power generators across its network, citing available transmission capacity nationwide. In a recent statement, NGCP encouraged interested parties to connect to the grid and coordinate with its Transmission Planning Department via email at gridplanning@ngcp.ph.

According to NGCP, the country’s transmission system has the capacity to handle up to 10,260 megawatts of additional generation: 6,573 MW in Luzon, 2,281 MW in the Visayas, and 1,406 MW in Mindanao. This move aims to support the growing energy demand while ensuring the stability and reliability of the power grid.

The announcement follows the completion of key infrastructure projects such as the 500 kV Mariveles–Hermosa–San Jose transmission line, which can carry up to 8,000 MW. NGCP assured the public and power sector stakeholders that it remains committed to expanding and modernizing the grid in line with its Transmission Development Plan.
