Orani’s coastal areas and fishing grounds need desilting

To improve fish catch and maintain high quality marine lives, Orani’s coastal areas and fishing grounds need desilting. This was aired by Orani Vice Mayor Emmanuel Roman in a recent interview where he said because of shallow waters fishes are sometimes buried in the mud thus affecting the local fishermen’s catch.

The vice mayor is son of former Bataan Vice Governor Serafin Roman. His family is engaged in fishing industry which propelled Orani town to become a major source of fishes, shrimps, crabs and other high quality marine products in Central Luzon before the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. Roman revealed that there are private investors going around and asking for availability of filling materials.

“We are willing to offer the filling materials from our shallow fishing grounds. Kelangan natin malaliman ang pangisdaan natin,” he said. In his personal experience as engaged in fishing, he said, “Gumaganda ang ani pag pinahukay ang tubig. Meron pang toxin ang tubig natin galing Mt. Pinatubo.”
