Mayor Antonio Raymundo, Jr. of Orion, Bataan announced on Tuesday the possibility of putting up zero-waste material recovery facility in his town amid reports that the Clark Waste Management Corp. where most of local government unit sdump their tons of garbage, is due for closure.
Raymundo, president of League of Municipalities, Bataan Chapter, sounded off the idea of the multimillion-peso environmental project during last Tuesday’s meeting at Dumangan Resort in Abucay.
In a video presentation, the League president asked the mayors to study the proposed project that will benefit the municipalities in Bataan considering that it will cost less than taking the local garbage to Clark. Material recovery facilities (MRFs) are essential components of the solid waste management system that help divert waste from disposal and prevent leakage into water ways. Recyclable materials are turned into productive endeavors that contribute to circular economy.
The Bataan mayors’ league monthly meeting was attended by Mayor Jopet Inton (Hermosa), the host, Mayor Robin Tagle (Abucay), Mayor Charlie Pizarro (Pilar), Mayor AJ Concepcion (Mariveles), Mayor Alex Acuzar (Samal), Mayor Cynthia Estanislao (Morong), Mayor Ramil del Rosario (Bagac), Vice Mayor Richie Jayson Davide (Limay) and City Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia (Balanga City).
