A group of truckers has formed the 1Bataan Truckers Association, Inc. to join the transport and business sector while at the same time helping the local government units cope with emergency cases.

Crisante P. Ilaya, president of the association appeared at the monthly meeting of League of Municipalities of the Philippines Bataan Chapter last Thursday to seek support from the mayors of truckers plan of being a “partner” of LGUs.

“Kesa naman mga taga-ibang lugar pa ang nakikinabang sa trucking industry, bakit hindi po ang aming asosasyon ang mabigyan ng pagkakataon na makatulong sa ating mga kababayan,” said Ilaya.

Ilaya said he looks forward to forging a memorandum of understanding with municipal mayors to respond to emergency cases to provide assistance in case of typhoons and other calamities.

“Our association with 35 members can operate and manage hauling, supply aggregates, backfilling materials, constructing, trucking and other development projects that would provide increase in revenue of municipalities,” explained Ilaya.
