Ten municipalities in Bataan received one Patient Transport Vehicle (PTV) each from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) under its Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program held July 9 at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila. The turn-over ceremony was led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles.
Governor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III, together with the municipal mayors of Bataan, attended the event alongside local chief executives from Regions I (Ilocos), II (Cagayan Valley), III (Central Luzon), IV-A (CALABARZON), IV-B (MIMAROPA), V (Bicol), and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), who were also beneficiaries of the said vehicles. In total, PCSO donated 387 PTVs to local government units across Luzon.
Gov. Garcia expressed gratitude to the national government for the vehicles, which will be used to provide much-needed medical support to residents in far-flung areas. He added that the program aligns with the Provincial Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen a more responsive, efficient, and community-based healthcare system.
Unlike a traditional ambulance, which is designed primarily for emergency response and critical care, the PTV is intended for medical transport equipped with a stretcher, oxygen tank, blood pressure monitor, and other medical supplies to ensure safe, comfortable, and timely transport of patients to hospitals or medical facilities.
