The Municipal Government of Bagac has announced the implementation of the School-Based Immunization (SBI) Program this August, in partnership with the Rural Health Unit (RHU) and the Department of Health. Mayor Ron Del Rosario said the program will cover selected grade levels in all public schools in the town.
The immunization drive, part of the national “Bakuna Eskwela” initiative, aims to protect learners from vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, and human papillomavirus (HPV). Vaccines will be administered to Grade 1 and Grade 7 students, as well as Grade 4 girls for HPV protection.
Local health workers and barangay health volunteers will lead the vaccination sessions in schools. The program supports the national target of achieving at least 95 percent coverage among school-age children to prevent outbreaks and maintain community protection.
Mayor Del Rosario urged parents and guardians to cooperate, saying vaccination is a vital step to ensure the health of Bagac’s youth. “Together, let us protect the future of every child in Bagac,” he added.
