“Peaceful and orderly election for a progressive Bataan province.” This was the optimistic expression of Balanga Bishop Rufino C. Sescon during last Wednesday’s peace covenant signing ceremonies at the Balanga St. Joseph Cathedral in Balanga City, Bataan.
The signing of peace covenant and pledge of integrity was preceded by an early morning parade of all local candidates from congressman/congresswoman, governor, vice governor, mayors, vice mayors and councilors. Some opponents of candidates, though, were not able to attend this important event for the candidates.
Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia was the first to affix his signature on the Comelec covenant board, followed vice governor, congressional candidates, mayors, vice mayors and councilors.
The Comelec reminded candidates not to post election posters in public places because designated places have been allotted to them.
The polls body also reminded candidates to use environment-friendly election campaign materials and “respect campaign issues” hurled by candidates and/or supporters.
