COMELEC holds ACM demonstration in Hermosa

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) conducted an Automated Counting Machine (ACM) demonstration and roadshow on January 9, 2025, in Mabiga, Hermosa, as part of its efforts to educate the public ahead of the 2025 midterm elections. The event aimed to familiarize voters with the features of the new ACMs, ensuring a transparent and efficient voting process.

Comelec Hermosa Chief Cristeto Manuel said that this ACMs, developed by South Korean firm Miru Systems, come with several advanced features designed to improve the voting experience. These include a ballot recasting option that allows voters to change their choices if necessary, a touch screen interface for easier navigation, and a QR code scanner to enhance ballot verification and transparency.

In preparation for the May 2025 elections, COMELEC has already received all 110,620 units of the new ACMs. The machines underwent rigorous testing before being rolled out for public demonstrations nationwide. Similar roadshows have been held in other provinces such as Negros Occidental and Iloilo City, demonstrating the machines’ capabilities to voters and stakeholders.

Earlier in Bataan, a similar demonstration was conducted in Bagac on January 6, 2025, where local authorities ensured the event’s security. The Hermosa roadshow continued these educational efforts, with voters given the chance to test the machines and address concerns about the new technology.

COMELEC emphasized the importance of these roadshows in increasing voter confidence and awareness. Residents are encouraged to attend such demonstrations to familiarize themselves with the voting process and ensure a smooth election day experience. Updates on upcoming events can be accessed through COMELEC’s official website and social media pages.
