The Municipal Government of Mariveles led by Mayor AJ Concepcion Celebrated Rabies Awareness Month with a lecture and vaccination drive last March 25 and 26, at RHU 1 and RHU 5, aimed at educating residents about the symptoms and preventive measures on rabies.
Health Education and Promotion Officer, Winnard Garcia led the lecture attended by local residents and pet owners while the Municipal Health Office under Dr. Gerald Sebastian provided free vaccination and treatment for animal bites at the two centers.
The celebration is part of the Municipality’s efforts to prevent and control rabies, as mandated by a Municipal Ordinance for rabies prevention and control program authored by Councilor Ivan Ricafrente. Mayor AJ Concepcion encourages his constituents to be responsible pet owners, have their pets vaccinated and seek immediate medical attention in case of animal bites. This is in line with their motto “Una ang Kalusugan” of which the Municipality remains committed to providing quality health care services to Mariveleños.
